Our Mission
The mission of the Thrift Store at St. Augustine's Episcopal Church is to reuse and recycle items that have served their purpose for previous owners and that are still in good condition for a new user. Our items for sale are not tagged because our ministry is to offer recycled items at an affordable price for those who need them. When customers find an item (or items) they wish to purchase, they bring them to the cash register where our store manager assesses them and quotes an extremely reasonable price. Most items sell for less than $5.00. Our Ministry Volunteer opportunities include helping to sort, organize, discard and haul away the many donations received. We also welcome any suggestions of how best to serve the community with Thrift Store surplus. Donations Every day donations appear at the front door of the Thrift Store. Sometimes the items are thoughtfully donated with notes for usage, and other times we are left bags of items that are dirty, stained, damaged or broken. These items must be trucked to the transfer station by our volunteers. If you have items you would like to donate to the Thrift Store, please check them first for damage, stains or breakage. We cannot repair, clean or otherwise prepare items for sale. A good rule of thumb when deciding what to donate: If it's too stained or dirty for your use, it's garbage; if it's broken, it's garbage. Please help us serve our community by taking your garbage to the transfer station. |
