  • Vicar's message - This Sunday, we hear the Beatitudes from Jesus' Sermon on the Plain. Rather than dividing ourselves into categories of "Blessed are you" and "Woe to you," we can embrace them all as facets of our shared humanity. We experience both blessing and woes because we are human. Jesus' words remind us that in every circumstance—joy or sorrow, gain or loss—God is present. The Beatitudes invite us to step into compassion and love for ourselves and others.

  • All Saints Sunday - Join us to celebrate the saints — past, present, and yet to come.
  • Stewardship 2025 - As members of St. Augustine's, we pause during the month of October to reflect on God's call to be good stewards of God's gifts. How are we caring for others, our community, and creation?
  • Upcoming services & events through December 2025.
  • Why St. Augustine's is here and how are we living our mission.

  • Vicar's message - In our readings a couple of weeks ago, Jeremiah and Paul reminded us that the Spirit lives within us. That still, small voice — the nudge of conscience, the whisper of compassion — is the movement of Spirit in our being. When we listen deeply, we hear God urging us to connect, pray, find wisdom in creation and community, and discern where to place our trust.

  • Creation care - Watch Aloha 'Āina, a short documentary film featuring Kanaka Maoli poet and activist Jamaica Heolimeleikalani Osorio, who immerses us in the concept of aloha ‘āina—a love for and of the land embodied by her poetry, her family, and the movement at the foot of Mauna Kea—as she fights to protect the sacred mountain from the construction of a thirty-meter telescope.
  • Updates on Convention 57 & Education Day on O'ahu.

  • Vicar's message - Mahalo to all who attended and volunteered for our Annual Bazaar! Reflections on gratitude and why it matters: living in gratitude help us align with the movement of Divine generosity. We stop clinging to what’s missing and start noticing the abundance that already surrounds us. Gratitude becomes a doorway into trust. It opens the heart to God’s presence in all things, even in difficulty.

  • Vicar's message - In this week’s gospel, Jesus tells a story of a rich man who ignores a man who is starving and ill. The story paints a grim picture of the rich man’s demise. It reads almost like Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, a cautionary tale showing how a life of indifference leads to torment. This story is not just about consequences after death; it is about how we choose to live right now. Each small act of attention, each prayer that stretches our hearts, each moment of standing alongside another, pulls us back from indifference into love. Read the rest of the Vicar's message in our newsletter here.

  • Vicar's message - By forgiving debts and sharing his wealth with the community, a rich man is a faithful steward of the abundance God gives. Rather than focusing on his personal wealth, he sees the richness that flows when wealth passes through his hands to others. This tale, like Jesus' other parables, offers multiple layers of wisdom, prompting questions such as:
    • What forms of wealth exist in the world?
    • How does wealth flow in our community?
    • What do our actions reveal about our beliefs around abundance or scarcity?
    • How does wealth shape our relationships with others, creation, and God?

  • Vicar's message - As we observe the Season of Creation, I wonder whether we pay enough attention to the living things around us. One example: the Pacific yew. While First Nations people have long recognized the value of this plant, western society ignored it until it was “discovered” in 1962 to have medicinal value. Sadly, the Pacific yew was extensively over-harvested to make an anti-cancer drug. Through human self-importance, this plant was treated as a commodity without regard for sustainable harvesting. Self-importance gives rise to false superiority — a poison that causes us to assume we are better or more significant than the other inhabitants of the planet.  If we feel we are more important than a plant, what’s to stop us from believing we are better than our neighbors? Read the rest of the Vicar's message in our newsletter here.

  • Vicar's message - Are we willing to pay the cost of unity? Emptying our small ego selves and releasing control for the good of the whole may seem too steep a price. Stopping our wasteful ways and living lighter on the planet may seem too difficult. But the good news is this: sacred surrender is not about losing ourselves or giving up a good life. It is about emptying ourselves into God's infinite love. Read the rest of the Vicar's message in our newsletter here.

  • Vicar's message - In this Sunday's gospel, Jesus tells a story about a wedding banquet. We’ve been invited, but instead of settling into the joy of the gathering, we find ourselves scanning the room: Where should we sit? Who will notice us? How close can we get to the place of honor? The gospel reminds us that scrambling for the best seat leaves us small, thirsty, and alone. But living in God’s flow of mutual love, shared abundance, humility, hospitality, and unity connects us to the living water that never runs dry. Read the rest of the Vicar's message in our newsletter here.

  • Vicar's message - As we grow in Spirit, we're called to grow out of old habits. Holding tight to our judgments of others can cause us to leap to false conclusions. We don't know the whole story behind others' actions and words. When we allow the grace of Spirit to flow, our hearts soften, our minds relax, and we open ourselves to love. Read the rest of the Vicar's message in our newsletter here.
