The Worship Committee is one of four standing committees established in St. Augustine’s bylaws. The purpose of the Worship Committee is to advise the Vicar and the Bishop’s Committee “on matters relating to the worship and liturgy of the Church.”
Acolytes light and extinguish the altar candles, lead the procession as crucifer, hold the book for the reading of the Gospel, and help the priest prepare for communion.
Altar Guild: Naly Nakamura & Marianne Eaton
The Altar Guild is responsible for the care and preparation of the altar, linens, priests and servers vestments, brass, silver, candles and flowers. This is an important behind-the-scenes ministry that requires in-depth training and a deep commitment to the care of the sanctuary and altar.
The eucharistic minister helps the priest prepare the altar for the Eucharist. He or she will read the prayers of the people, and administer the chalice at communion.
Lay Readers read the assigned Old Testament lesson, New Testament lesson and the Psalm.
St. Augustine’s has an active music program consisting of a choir, a youth ukulele group, and on special occasions we are led by a renowned guitar and bass duo. A fitting motto for our music ministry might be, “though small, it is mighty”. It helps of course that we have a music director, Mila Polevia, wonderful guitarists and ukulele plahers. We are a musical congregation. Come and join us!
